NATIONAL DAIRY COUNCIL – MILK IT AWARDS 2014

'ST. MARY'S ARE NATIONAL SENIOR WINNERS - TWO YEARS IN A ROW!!

St. Mary’s ' Belle Bó' Advertising Agency have been crowned senior winners out of over 358 teams from over 50% of all of the secondary schools in the country in the National Dairy Council annual MILK IT AWARDS.

St. Mary’s 'Belle Bó' team are: Shauna Buckley, Niamh Dineen, Sinead Cronin, Niamh Relihan, Laura Murphy and Kirstin O’Reilly

The team along with their teachers Arlene O’Donoghue and Eibhlin Collins put a huge amount of time and effort into this competition.  The competition required the girls to run an advertising campaign on behalf of the NDC to try to increase dairy consumption amongst their peers.  Teenagers are meant to have five portions of dairy a day – this is what the 'Belle Bó' team were trying to get the students in St Mary’s to do.

They ran a very varied campaign and carried out very extensive research.  Their tagline The Healthy Way is 5 a Day worked very well along with their lovely Mascot Belle.  The girls created their very own Belle Bó APP that is available to download on any Android Device, they taped various Youtube videos and much much more to try to promote dairy intake.  They held a dairy party in the school and ran various competitions.

All of their advertising and promotion worked as their final research showed that the students are having a lot more dairy now than they were at the beginning of the year.  Students are also more aware of the benefits of having five portions of dairy per day.

All of their hard work and dedication was rewarded in The Mansion House on Thursday the 15th  May when they were announced Senior Winners.  Well done and a huge congratulations to all involved.
