Upcoming events: 

TY Show: This years TY show ‘Derry Girls Experience’  is just around the corner. The show will take place in Kilmurry Parish Hall, Crookstown on the 29th and 30th of November at 7pm. Tickets are available in Elaine’s Office and On Eventbrite, the link for the tickets is in the Instagram bio and on the school Facebook page.

Christmas Day: In December St Mary’s will be celebrating the annual school Christmas day organised by the Student Council. On this day all students and teachers will have Christmas dinner kindly Organised by Trish followed by an evening of fun and games. This is a much loved St Mary’s tradition which will continue on this year.

Christmas exams: Third Years and Sixth years Christmas Exams will take place in the week of the 27th of November in order to give them a break between Christmas Exams  and their Pre Exams. First Years, Second Years, TY’s and Fifth Years Christmas exams will take place as usual in the week before the end of Term.

 

Latest News:

At the end of October 11 projects from our school were entered into the BT Young Scientist Exhibition and 1 project on the reserve pannell. They are working continuously hard and will be displaying in the RDS from the 10-13th of January 2024.

The 12th-19th of November was science week! There was plenty of activities organised for each day. On Monday there was a 2nd year building challenge to see who can build the highest tower to balance a large marshmallow. On Tuesday there was a 3rd year quingo. This is a mashup of a quiz and bingo where it is a combination of knowing your science and choosing the right numbers to get bingo! Thursday there was a 1st year scavenger hunt where they raced against time to get both the riddle/question answered correctly and to be the first team back.Lastly on Friday, there was a 4th year biodiversity photo challenge where they went on a walk down to the park capturing photos of biodiversity. 

On the 14th of November, 6 of our greenschool commitee attended a #andshecycles training session in the Strand Hotel in limerick. Chloe Lehane, Rachel Twomey, Daimhin McKenna, Ellen Murray and Ellen O’Donoghue, along with Ms.Gray, attended the meeting in Limerick. They were given advice on how to use different advertising methods, how to make your goals SMART, and tackled different problems that the committee might have when trying to achieve the Travel Flag. They want to thank everyone at #andshecycles and look forward to working with them over the course of this academic year.

On the 17th Of November, the 5th and 6th years attended the MTU open day. They got a great insight into the college and facilities.
